HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV)-- The Better Business Bureau says some businesses have received a fax to renew their listing in the Yellow Pages. However, if a business responds to this, they could face over $1,000 in charges.
The fax is coming from the Open Business Directory, based in Boston, Ma. So far, the company has an 'F' rating with the Better Business Bureau and over 1,500 complaints from businesses in New England. The business also goes by 'yellowpageuse.com'.
Here's how the scam works: when you send the fax back to the company confirming your address in small print it says, "this is a new service and for a year it costs more than $1,100."
