High School Students Remodel Local Home

High school students remodeled a local home as part of a community outreach program through James Madison University. The new community project encourages sustainable living and urban farming.

JMU students put the educational outreach project together, and they organize projects for local high schools once a month.

“It's a community service learning and leadership learning program for high school students in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, so it's open to any high school student in the city or county, and we do community service projects at least once a month, and we do leadership development and team building. So, this is our service project for the month of January,” says Michael Maurice, Director of Programs JMU Center for Youth.

Any high school student who wants to take part in the program should speak to their school counselor.
