To Serve, or Not to Serve?

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV)-- The request to serve alcohol is from the Parks and Recreation Department for the 'Tour De Valley Century and Metric Century Bike Tour'. They want to sell beer near Ridgeview Park and the War Memorial Pool during the event.

It's an idea leaving some in the area with mixed feelings on how people may act around the park during the event.

"There's a lot of people who say 'yes, I can handle 'x' number of drinks' and they can't, and because of that they're going to have to take responsibility for their actions," said Dana Weller, who lives near Ridgeview Park.

But, there are also some neighbors who think the event that day will still go on without a hitch, if beer is sold.

"If people just go out and have a good time and just drink a coulple of drinks and enjoy themselves, you know, I don't see anything wrong with that," said Dolores Cskew, who also lives near the park.

The 'Tour De Valley Bike Tour' will take place on Sept. 6.
