James Madison coach Mickey Matthews announced Monday that sophomore running back Corwin Acker has been suspended indefinitely.
Matthews wouldn't reveal the reason for the suspension Monday, beyond saying it was for an "off the field issue."
Acker did not travel with the team to William and Mary this past weekend. It was announced earlier last week that Acker would not play against the Tribe because of a hamstring issue.
Matthews said Monday that if he had been healthy, Acker still would not have traveled with the team. Matthews said he told Acker of the suspension when he returned from William & Mary.
Acker is still in school, Matthews said.
