Marist College is suing JMU men's head basketball coach Matt Brady and the school.

Brady confirmed the lawsuit by phone Thursday.

Marist, the school Brady coached for four seasons before manning the Dukes, claims he violated his contract by bringing players to JMU that he recruited to play at Marist.

Brady says he can't comment on the matter due to the lawsuit filed.

The Poughkeepsie Journal (New York) reported Thursday that the lawsuit claims Brady "lured" Devon Moore, Julius Wells (2009 CAA Rookie of the Year), Andrey Semenov and Trevon Flores to play at JMU after leaving Marist.

Marist also claims Brady breached his contract by negotiating his deal with the Dukes without Marist's written permission.

Brady signed a four-year contract extension with the Red Foxes July 1, 2007, which was supposed to last through the 2011 season. Months later, Brady was hired as the Dukes' head coach on March 25, 2008.

Marist claims JMU knew Brady breached his contract with the Red Foxes, and is therefore suing the university as well.
