Four James Madison athletic teams, including football, men's and women's basketball and men's soccer, welcomed approximately 60 special athletes from around the Shenandoah Valley to campus Saturday.
The athletes were able to get pictures taken with the Dukes, autographs signed by their favorite players, and some even got to play one-on-one with JMU women's basketball standout Dawn Evans.
The Dukes say it's a great thing to take part in.
"I'm a brother of an autistic kid, so this really means a lot," says junior safety Griff Yancey. "It shows how fortunate we really are."
"It's great to know somebody looks up to you and wants your autograph," says sophomore guard Devon Moore.
"It just goes to show how much support we have here at JMU," adds junior guard Evans. "We love to give back and this is the type of thing that we love to do. Just to be wanted by everybody, every type of person is amazing, and we just have so much gratitude for it."
