James Madison's softball team will make its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance next week, after capturing the first CAA title in school history on Friday.

JMU, the lowest seed in this year's four-team conference tournament, routed Towson 11-1 in five innings to clinch the title. The Dukes went 3-0 in the three-day, double elimination tournament.

Senior pitcher Meredith Felts was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. She followed Wednesday's one-hit shutout with a complete game four-hitter on Friday.

JMU is the first team other than Hofstra to win a CAA title in the conference's eight-year history. Georgia St. eliminated the top-seeded Pride from this year's tournament Friday morning.

The Dukes will learn their destination for next week's NCAA regional on Sunday.
