Gas Up 3 Cents per Gallon in Virginia

Posted: 7:48 AM Aug 20, 2012

Gasoline prices are continuing to creep up in Virginia.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Virginia was $3.58 last week.

That's three cents higher than a week ago, and 12 cents higher than the same week last year. On the positive side, it's 14 cents below the national average.

The Charlottesville area posted the lowest average price of $3.46 a gallon, while the Norfolk area was the highest at $3.59. Richmond came in at $3.57 and Roanoke at $3.50.

Martha Meade of AAA says experts expect prices to continue to rise through Labor Day, but not drastically.
