Analysts Release Revised Gambling Revenue Figures

Posted: 10:15 PM Aug 14, 2012

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Analysts have released revised revenue figures to reflect tax changes made by a Maryland House of Delegates committee to a gambling expansion bill.

The estimates, released on Tuesday, show how much tax reductions for casino operators will affect the state's education trust fund, if table games are allowed along with a Prince George's County casino.

The fund would get about $174 million in additional gambling revenue for fiscal year 2017, if changes in the bill are fully implemented. That's down about $32 million compared to the bill passed by the Senate.

A House committee voted Monday night to change the tax rates to offset the economic impact of a new casino.

Meanwhile, the House is late for a scheduled 2 p.m. session. As of 4 p.m., session had not started.
