Lexington, Va. Soldier Reportedly Killed in Afghanistan

Posted: 7:34 AM Jun 29, 2012

The former coach of a Lexington high school football star says he has been killed in Afghanistan just days after he reported for duty.

Jason White was Chase Prasnicki's coach at Rockbridge County High School, where Prasnicki was a quarterback.

According to media reports Thursday, White said his former player was killed Wednesday by an improvised explosive device while on patrol. Prasnicki had arrived in Afghanistan on Sunday.

White said Prasnicki's father told him his son volunteered for the patrol.

The Army Ranger was 24 years old. He left a wife.
