2 Hardy County High Schools Getting Makeovers

Two high schools in Hardy County are getting makeovers.
School Building Authority executive director Mark Manchin says the agency has approved $21 million in funding that will be coupled with a $21.5 million school bond passed earlier this month by Hardy County voters.
Under the plan, Moorefield High School will be replaced, while East Hardy High will expand and undergo major renovations.
Moorefield High was built in the 1940s. County school officials have cited several health and safety issues in the current facility. The new school will be built on the current site.
East Hardy in Baker was built in the early 1970s. Officials say it has structural, layout, roofing and accessibility issues. The school will add square footage for fine arts and physical education, and the kitchen and cafeteria.
