CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia is eligible for federal disaster assistance to help communities recover from the severe storms on June 29.
President Barack Obama issued a major disaster declaration for the state, which will cover emergency work, repair and replacement of public facilities in 45 counties.
U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall said Monday in a release that all counties are eligible to apply for assistance under a program that would prevent or reduce long-term risk to life and property from natural hazards.
West Virginia is conducting damage assessments in applying for individual assistance, which includes grants and services for people who incurred uninsured property damage and loss.
