Low Voter Turnout in Staunton
Voters trickled into the polling stations in Staunton Tuesday afternoon.
At last check, about a 1000 voters turned out but Staunton has close to 15,000 registered voters.
For the city council election, four seats are open with four candidates running and as for the school board, six people are vying for only three seats.
Some see the lack of voters as a positive thing.
“I think you kind of send the message to City Council if you don't respond to it that things are going ok,” said Wade Munford, Ward 1 Chief Registrar. “If you come out en masse, you may say to them, 'Hey, we want more voice in this,' Same thing with the school board.”
