I agree in part with the previous comment. Students have been graduating for decades with debt. The real problem is two issues. First, college tuition keeps going up because Universities know that the fee will be backed by the federal government (taxpayers) and forgiven in 10 years with us taxpayers still paying for it. The other issue is the higher education offers too many courses and degrees that have no chance in providing a future for these graduates. Colleges as well as K-12 need to go back to the basics and should be help responsible for the state of our education.

What since is it to go to school on the governments dime only to be told your education don't mean spit and it's a waist of productivity. And these days it's not what you know but who you know. And the government is getting rich at the students expense, just look at the economy that should tell you all you need to know. Welcome to the real world of dept where you education don't mean a thing, better luck next time. The government now owns you!

Seems like a good idea, however, even if they could generate a number it would still only be an estimation. There are so many job types and titles it would be nearly impossible to do. People are moving, being hired, switching jobs, etc. Not to mention the cost of college would skyrocket to hire enough people to try to calculate this. Great idea, not very practical.

O.k., getting a little tired of hearing about the poor college students and the expensive student loans. Students have been getting loans to pay for college for 50 years. The only difference is, they didn't whine, moan, and complain about it. They just worked hard (and often two jobs) to pay them. They didn't expect everyone from the President on down to cater them and "save" them. In other words, they didn't feel entitled to a college education, much less a free ride. College students agree to the loan terms when they sign on the dotted line. They have no right to complain about it. Also, it's the student's responsibility to research their intended field and how employable they will be. Oh wait! That's expecting them to act responsible, grown-up. Imagine that!

I think colleges and universities should be held accountable to disclose the actual number of jobs available per degree offered. Like a credit check. This would help hard working students and families choose schools, careers, and know how to plan the rest of their lives. College is an investment.
