If you ride a bicycle or share the road with cyclists, changes could soon be coming to roads in Rockingham County.
The Rockingham County Board of Supervisors gave approval for a local group to begin working on a comprehensive bicycle plan.
The idea is to make roads safer for cyclists and identify high traffic areas.
The county bicycle coalition has been putting this plan together for some time
One member says the group is already working on establishing signs for cyclists to avoid high traffic areas.
"That's really the part of a comprehensive bike plan is to bring experts in to look at the entire county, to look at safety, to look at recreation. Every plan looks at the non-bicyclists. Whose not riding and what would it take to encourage them to be on a bicycle," said Rich Harris with the Rockingham County Bicycle Coalition.
Harris goes on to say that most people don't bike because they're afraid.
His group wants to make the county and the city more bicycle friendly.
