HARRISONBURG -– City council members heard the 2014 budget proposal on Tuesday night.

The proposed budget would raise the city real estate tax by 4 cents. That would take the tax from 63 cents to 67 cents per $100 of assesed value. The budget would also give city employees a 2 percent raise.

About seven city positions could be created.

A city representative said it's because of the increasing population in the city.

City council members plan to have a public hearing on this budget on April 23rd.
