Augusta County is following the paths of other areas by looking into enacting a porn ordinance.
On Wednesday night, the county began considering the ordinance after a concerned citizen mentioned the possible adult store opening in Staunton.
The council then discussed options on how they might proceed. While members say they can't ban adult stores completely because of first amendment rights, they say they can prevent where a shop goes.
"We realize there's a little gap in our ordinances of what we can do, so let's just be proactive and do what we can before it becomes an issue," says Nancy Sorrells, Chair of the Augusta County Board of Supervisors.
The board will discuss possibilities for the ordinance at their next meeting.
