So there is problem with the content of a store? Fact: Sheetz, and other gas stations, in Staunton and Augusta Co. sell the same things, as well as Kroger's, the mall, your T.V. company, whether it be cable or satellite, and guess what, we don't have to be 18 to go into a gas station or watch T.V. now do we? If you don't like what he's selling then don't go into his store. Its not like he lets underaged kids browse his shelves, he ID's everyone that comes in and if that person isn't old enough then they have to leave. The windows are covered so nobody can see inside the store, and if you don't like it forget about it. He's trying to make a living just like you and me. He might not agree with your line of work but that doesn't make it wrong.
Reply to MP, location Staunton: You've seen Deep Throat????? NOBODY IS SHOVING ANYTHING DOWN YOUR THROAT! YOU DON'T LIKE IT - DON'T GO IN THERE! YOU DON'T WANT YOUR CHILDREN EXPOSED TO IT - DON'T DRIVE THEM THERE! DON'T LEAVE YOUR TAPES OUT IN THE OPEN AT HOME. TELL ME SOMETHING RIGHTIOUS ONE - WE SELL GUNS IN WALMART AND THATS OK? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME SOMEONE WAS ROBBED AND KILLED WITH A PORNO TAPE IN HAND??? AND BY THE WAY... YOUR GIVING HIM MORE PUBLICITY THEN HE COULD EVER AFFORD TO PAY FOR - Hahahahah! P.S. Nice comments Poppa (I've read them all and agree with you 100%!) FIRST AMMENDMENT!!!!
I don't recall him shoving anything down anyone's throat. He opened a store and then you and your crew made a huge ruckus and started shoving what you believe down everyone elses throats. Your behaviour is the only thing obscene I've seen. If we are going to ban porn we'd better be banning the bible too because I'm afraid I don't agree with it.
To Mary of Staunton: We are not bullying this man. He is the one bullying what we believe in and our children by shoving this mess down our throats. We will NOT go away. We're not backing down! We feel strongly about this, and we will not step aside and let something we don't like run over us. I'm sick of it and it "ain't gonna happen." OK?
In 1969 the MPAA rated "Midnight Cowboy", "X" and it was considered obscene, because of its Homosexual themes. It won 3 Oscars, and two years later with no changes to the film it was changed to an "R" rating, later aired on television, and was even viewed in the White House. Hopefully, in time the ignorance of some will not prevail against the rights of all.
Andrea Oakes and the rest of you two-faced CTF people - GET A LIFE! Leave this shop alone! If people REALLY don't want it they won't go in there and shop - and he will loose money and close up - BUT if people ARE interested - they will go there and he will be successful. Time will tell. NOW Stop bullying this man and put your energy into fighting drugs, crime and poverty in our backyard!!!!!!! Make love - not war!!!!!!!!
Sooooo, porn shops aren't related to crime? HA! Good job Mr. Robertson and thanks to Ms. Oakes for her input, as well as others who have backed this! GREAT JOB ALL OF YOU!!!!!I'M PLEASED!
we haven't been to the store ...yet but my husband and I will be making our way there this weekend to sign the petition... really a porn shop should not be that BIG a DEAL, I agree there are far more great crimes going on in the area.
If it offends you, don't go in there. Stay away from it.
All these people are getting mad at a little shop in staunton while there are much bigger problems in the area. How many children are going to bed at night starving in this area. Look up the statistics about poverty in this area as one problem of concern and yet we focus so much on other nuisances that we call "problems". This is just soemthing we all should think about.
