Students Mourn Classmate

An Alexandria school that's seen tragedy in the last year is mourning again.

Grief counselors spent the day at TC Williams High School, which lost a promising student in a wreck on Interstate-95 yesterday morning. Seventeen-year-old Laura Lynam when the car she was riding in rolled over in Newington, on the way to a rowing event in Prince William County. Six other girls in the car suffered minor injuries.

School principal John Porter says Lynam wanted to be a doctor, had applied for early admission to Yale, and was being recruited by other colleges.

Back in June, TC Williams lost alumnus John Catilo, who drowned in the Potomac River. And in September of last year, student Schuyler Jones was beaten to death in Old Town.
