Twenty-five years ago, the Wildlife Center of Virginia was founded in a horse stable in Waynesboro.
Now, it treats injured wildlife in a $1.5 million facility.
During its 25 years, the center has treated almost 50,000 wild animals.
And it's presented programs to more than 1.4 million children and adults.
The president of the center, Ed Clark, says its impact is felt well beyond the Valley.
He says, "We actually are active worldwide. We train veterinary students and professionals from every vet school in the United States and Canada and from more than 25 other countries at our facility in Waynesboro."
