Virginia Beach police are looking for volunteers to help them with unsolved homicide cases.

They're seeking people unfamiliar with the old cases that could bring a fresh perspective.

Criminologists, psychologists, forensic technicians and others in the criminal-justice field are welcome to join the Cold Case Volunteer Program.

Participants will be provided with case files and will offer suggestions to detectives. They won't be investigating the crimes themselves or gathering more new physical evidence.

Virginia Beach police Lieutenant Kevin Perry hopes to have volunteers reviewing cases within a few weeks.
