Virginia State Police confirm an accident just south of Bridgewater Wednesday morning claimed the life of one person. It happened in Augusta County on Scenic Highway.
State Police also say one other person was flown from the scene to a hospital. The accident involved a van and a pick-up truck.
A witness says a passenger in the van was the person who died.
According to eye witness accounts, there were five other people in the van and one in the pick-up.
Julie Reedy says that the crash happened early Wednesday morning in her front yard.
She says, "When we come out, there was a gentleman that had been thrown out of the van, or I assumed he had been thrown out of the van, and he was laying beside the van, screaming, his leg was in an unnatural state."
Reedy says the sound of a crash isn't one that's easily forgotten.
She say that she recalls three accidents in the past two years that have all happened near her home. She blames visibility and the speed limit.
