We know Weekday Religious Education in Staunton is safe, but that doesn't mean it's out of the spotlight.
Monday night, the school board said it will keep a close eye on what those children are doing who are not in WRE.
The board's chairman said the rest of this school year will be dedicated to observing and discussing what activities would best serve these students.
The resulting program would be implemented in the next school year.
He says he hopes a creative program will emerge that pleases all families involved.
"In a years time we will ask all the families involved, 'was the solution that we created a good solution?'" said Chairman James Harrington. "[For] those families [to] say 'yes, thank you, it's what we wanted,' that's what I want. If that's not what happens then we will address it again."
But Harrington says he is optimistic the administration will create a successful program for those students who opt out of WRE.
