Fitness centers are not just for adults these days. Pint-sized equipment and age-appropriate classes are getting kids off the couch and helping to combat childhood obesity.

Former James Madison University basketball player Brandy Cruthird started her own program in Boston for inner-city kids who have no place to work out. She's hoping to change their lives one workout at a time.

"We have to invest in their health, because if we don't invest in them now, we're going to pay the cost long term," says Cruthird.

Children, ages seven to 16, are referred to the gym by community hospitals and get a prescription to visit for free.

Cruthird has not only seen many kids lose weight. She says she has also seen them gain new self esteem.
