For the first time in a decade, Republican Representative Bob Goodlatte will face some Democratic competition for the sixth district seat in congress.

Sam Rasoul is seeking the Democratic nomination for the sixth congressional district seat this November.

Goodlatte currently holds that seat, but Wednesday night, Rasoul spent the evening at the Daily Grind Coffee Shop on Mount Clinton Pike in Harrisonburg to talk with people about why he's decided to run for the U.S. House of Representatives.

He discussed many popular topics such as immigration, green energy and the economy, but he says the biggest concern for voters is government corruption.

"People are looking for a genuine honest broker, and that's why we've seen so many people involved in these primaries, because they believe that 2008 need to be a change election, and we need to have government that works for people in an efficient way," says Rasoul.

Rasoul was raised and educated in Southwest Virginia. He also said getting young voters to the polls is a important to him.
