The Federal Advisory Panel out of Atlanta has suggested to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention to expand flu shots to all children six months to 18 years of age. This means about 30,000,000 more kids could be getting vaccinated. It’s just a suggestion, but the panel's advice is routinely adopted by the CDC, who in turn issues vaccination guidelines to doctors and hospitals.
Meanwhile, Waynesboro Pediatrics, Dr. Steven Mumbauer, says the flu got off to a slow start in his office, but it is now circulating. He is also seeing a lot of strep throat, colds and ear infections, pink eye and a viral gastroenteritis, which causes vomiting and diarrhea.
Up in Page County, Dr. Jeffrey Feit says the flu seems to be saying goodbye, but he too, is seeing a viral GI illness.
