A possible shooting rampage at a Virginia high school may have been stopped thanks to a tip.

Police say a student at Colonial Heights High School in Richmond was in a chat room over the weekend, threatening to open fire at the school.

A woman from New York was also in that chat room and she called police.

Police swarmed the school on Monday. They quickly found the student who made the threats and removed him from class.

Police say the teen did not have any weapons, but they treat every threat seriously.

The school system sent home letters to parents to tell them about the chat room threat this past weekend.

Colonial Heights is an independent city 20 miles south of Richmond. No more a part of Richmond, than Salem is of Roanoke.
