update- I am the deputy who seized these poor dogs, all got good loving homes. Here is how you can help- If yoou see ads in the paper advertising multiple breeds, or go to visit a "breeder" facility that seems at all suspicious,(don't want you to see inside where the dogs are kept but prefer to meet you somewhere else, dogs smell or are matted or apear ill or unthrifty) please put in a call to your local authorities. Please get your dog or puppy from an animal shelter or rescue.
Response to Jonathan: Step away from your computer and volunteer at a local shelter - then you willl know that this story is true. I saw these dogs and took care of them when they were brought in - the story is factual.
How do we even know this blasted story is true? Don't you think the media exaggerates sometimes? And they never lie right (sarcasm)
I thank God that I didnt get the CHi i was looking at, I knew it looked funny and I even ask him to let me have her and I would take her to the vet and get her healthy looking but he wouldnt , this was about 2 years ago, Im sorry for the other people that bought his pups, Keep him in jail just like he did the puppys . Va,
How can we stop this if we do not have any info as to where they are. As a small private rescue I have been trying to locate these mills so as to at least try and bargain to get some of them out.I rescued a cocker who has been bred so much that at 12yrs.old they finally stopped and left her in a deplorable state and gave her to a woman who also did not take care of her when I rescued her. She has a permanent home at my rescue where she is now healthy and living out her last yrs with love and care. I pay for all care on my own as I have no donations to help. Love of animals keeps me going on.
How long are we going to let these puppy mills abuse dogs, spread disease through our state, and hide their income and not pay taxes on these businesses? When will responsible legislators deal with this?
