Thinking about switching careers? How about giving teaching a try!

Virginia Community Colleges and the State Board of Education are teaming up to produce more educators. It's known as the Career Switcher Program, a semester long class for post-college graduates who want to become full-time teachers.

The distance-learning program is offered regionally throughout the state, with Blue Ridge Community College as one of its centers. Even with an increasing demand for math and science teachers, BRCC says another field is leading the pack.

"There's a number of individuals who are out there in the workforce interested in getting the endorsement in English as a second language," says John Downey of BRCC. "We are seeing a great interest in that."

The course opens this spring.
