Harrisonburg City Council member Carolyn Frank says a petition to remove the city's treasurer is expected to be filed Friday.
She agreed to file the petition that requires 553 signatures from registered city voters. Currently, the count stands at around 650.
Treasurer Rebecca Neal was indicted in February.
Even after the petition is filed, it's still up to a judge to decide whether or not to remove her from office.
