The Valley Family Forum held a faith celebration dinner Thursday night on the JMU campus.
President of Vision America, Dr. Rick Scarborough, who is a nationally known pastor and speaker, was the keynote speaker at the dinner.
He says that while church and state are separate, he feels Christians should not shy away from public office.
In fact, Scarborogh says the dinner was an effort to get more pastors and laypersons more active in civil government.
He says, "There seems to be a wide spread misunderstanding, myth I'd like to say, that somehow Christians shouldn't be involved."
As far as his thoughts on a separation between church and state, Scarborough says each plays their own role.
