Supervisor Charles Ahrend made the motion. He said without the approval of a plan they could lose Virginia Department of Transportation funding. And, it's only a concept; it doesn't guarantee a loop road.

"I've just taken a bunch of trips this winter and I know either going down to Miami or New Orleans or up to Portland Maine, if a lot of these communities didn't have some way to put traffic around the cities," said Supervisor Charles Ahrend. "It just be a real mess and I think we need to look ahead in the future."

Dee Floyd was the only descending vote. He says he was surprised by the motion and did not feel they had the public input to make this decision.
