Managers at another local plant have announced they are cutting several jobs. Graham Packaging is eliminating 60 jobs at its plant in Harrisonburg.
The managers say they're changing their production schedule. Because of this change, they're eliminating almost 20 percent of their workforce at the plant.
Company spokesman Donald Sarvey says they're cutting down their production schedule to five days a week instead of seven.
One of the people laid off says the employees were offered a call-back date six weeks from now. That means if the company feels they still need the employees, they'll bring them back.
The employee declined to give a name since there is the possibility for future employment with the company.
As for now, the employee says the people who experienced the job cuts are able to collect unemployment and keep their medical insurance while they wait to hear more about their jobs.
