Virginia Tech students, victims' family members, and Blacksburg citizens, joined more than 70 cities and towns across America in a protest Wednesday, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.
A group of 32 took part in a lie-in to recall the 32 victims killed.
They were down for three minutes to highlight the short time it takes to purchase a gun in the United States. Protesters say they hope their actions will urge Congress to close the so-called gun show loophole immediately.
"As a country, we just must do more to stop gun violence," says Lori Haas, whose daughter was injured in the shootings. "It's absolutely necessary. From what I've witnessed, I'm compelled to work on this issue day in and day out."
April 16 has been dubbed National Lie-in Day.
