The stimulus packages haven't been mailed yet, but some stores are going all out to get your check.

Several places in the Valley say, if you turn the entire check over to their store, they'll give you bonus bucks. Stores are already beginning to offer incentives to consumers, like adding an extra 10 percent of the check to the gift card.

The question now is whether the consumers are even interested in this deal.

Bills are rising faster than ever, but it's not stopping consumers. Sears and Kmart Spokesperson Larry Costello says, "Despite the state of the economy, three out of five people would like to make small home improvements and we felt that this would be a good way to help them do that."

For Erin Wakefield, these types of jobs are a reality, but she's skeptical of the offer.

She says, "Yeah, I'd rather have cash."

Like many others, she has to spend the check elsewhere.

"We're fixing our house up to put a new floor in our bathroom, a new back door, pay some other bills off, so I don't need to give Kmart or Sears the money," says Wakefield.

Costello says their gift card will be valid at Kmart and Lands End, so you can buy groceries at Kmart,

He continues, "Or if they need apparel to outfit the family, they can get that at any of our three outlets whether it's Lands End, Sears, or Kmart."

Sandy Shifflett says, "It'd be alright to use for gas too. I mean gas is so high right now, people can't really afford to go anywhere anymore because of the gas prices."

Shifflett says she would be interested in the gift card, but is concerned about having to deposit the entire check.

She says, "Anything, I mean, groceries would help. He likes tools to work out on his vehicles. She likes video games, that would be something to look at."

Costello says there isn't an expiration date on the gift cards, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to take advantage of the offer. If you choose to take advantage of any of these offers, Costello says if you're married, you and your spouse must be present, along with I.D.'s, and the amount of the gift card must be the entire value of the stimulus check.
