Imagine having just the clothes on your back, that is all you own, and now you are reaching out for help.
That is where the Red Cross comes in, but it can't do it alone.
The Blue Ridge Red Cross chapter has received more than $100,000 in donations, but with the majority of the money going to the national organization, the local chapter needs a helping hand.
"We're always in need of help. The reality is any time you process as many as 44 evacuees, you have stress upon your financial base. We do need help," says Chapter Chairman, Jim Quist.
If you would like to help the local chapter or any of the evacuees who have relocated to the Valley, you can call the Blue Ridge Red Cross at 540-885-9151.
