NewBiz Virginia is an incubator helping to jump start small businesses in the area and as it continues grow it's finding out it needs some help of its own.

"The first few years we have kind of had a mix of successes and failures," says Steve Landes of NewBiz Virginia. "But the ones we've had now, the growth from 4-6 and the employment we've just seen a really steady increase."

It seems more and more entrepreneurs are turning to NewBiz Virginia to help start up their businesses.

"It just was tough to find space we could afford," says Jeff Brower of Conservation Services, who uses the incubator. "Starting out as a new business, just getting out of the starting gates. It's been very helpful to us."

NewBiz provides space, mentorship and even meeting rooms for start-up businesses in the Augusta, Staunton and Waynesboro areas. The tri-valley's agreement to help fund part of the non-profit is almost up, resulting in the incubator's first funding campaign.

"We want to move to the next step and really be an integral part of the local economy and get the same support of the community," says Landes.

NewBiz has already helped more than 17 businesses get off the ground and into the community. Now, it's taking the next steps in becoming more independent.

"We're willing and able to take care of donations, contributions from corporations, individually, or organizations that want to support a part of our local economy," says Landes.

NewBiz is looking for volunteers to help raise money and awareness about the incubator. They're immediate needs are for more corporate support and partnerships.
