The 19-year-old suspect in the Interstate 64 shootings, Slade Allen Woodson, has been indicted by a Waynesboro grand jury on six counts, including two new ones.

There are 21 charges currently filed against Woodson, most of which are in Albemarle County.

Commonwealth's Attorney Charles Ajemian says, "We presented six indictments to the Waynesboro grand jury upon which he was indicted today. Two for shooting into an occupied building. Three for maliciously shooting at a motor vehicle and one for felony destruction of property."

One of the shootings was into a house on Commerce Avenue. People were home at the time, but no one was injured. The other, at the DuPont Community Credit Union on Lucy Lane, gave officials a very important piece of evidence: an image of the suspect's car caught by a surveillance camera.

Charges were also recently filed in Waynesboro against another suspect in the shootings, the 16-year-old male from Crozet. This suspect pleaded guilty to some of the charges he faced Friday in Albemarle County.

Woodson is scheduled to be back in court on June 24 when he is expected to enter a plea. His preliminary hearing that was to take place Monday was canceled.
