A grand jury has indicted a man from New Market for allegedly raping a senior woman at an assisted-living facility.
Police say the sexual attack took place at Shenandoah Valley Village in New Market in February. The victim is in her 60s.
Police arrested 37-year-old Thomas Neil Elliot III shortly after the alleged attack. Elliot was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury on the rape charge.
Police say Elliot did not attack the woman alone. Twenty-three-year-old Zachary Joseph Acome is also accused in the rape.
Both Acome and Elliot lived at Shenandoah Valley Village at the time of the attack.
Elliot's jury trial is scheduled for August 20.

I think the home should be investigated due to the lack of supervision on the staff, this could have been provented. The staff is intrusted with the saftey of these people. I would be scared to let one of my loved ones be there knowing that this happiened and the staff was unware of it going on. you would think that they would be doing bed checks at least every hour, to make sure the residents were ok. Cause of their disabilies and health issues. They live there to have support, to be safe, made sure that they are taking their medications for medical problems. That is why people live in Assistive Living Facilities, they are not able to live on their own, do for them selves the daily activies of personal hygene and every day decision making and the every day living activies as, cleaning, laundry and cooking. The facilities provide this service along with DCA ( Direct Care Associate) and Med Techs. So ware were these staff people when this outragous act happiened this woman.
