An August trial date has been set for one of the people accused of murdering a Virginia Commonwealth University student from the Valley.
Howard Reed Scott III is scheduled to be in Richmond Circuit Court August 18. He faces charges of murder, robbery, and illegal use of a firearm.
The charges stem from the March 27 robbery and killing of 21-year-old Tyler Binsted from Mount Jackson.
Binsted's family says they are glad that the judicial process is moving along, but it doesn't change what happened.
"It doesn't bring Tyler back," says his mother Paula Binsted. "So, there's no happy ending here at all. The damage is done."
The two other people charged in connection with the incident, Zsabriela Evelyn Williams and LaPrecious Nicole Austin, are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
