The Waynesboro City Council addressed the possibility of making all moped riders in the city wear helmets Monday after a deadly moped crash happened over the weekend.
Police say the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash on the corner of North Delphine Avenue and Sixth Street.
Council member Nancy Dowdy says this fatality proves the council must take action by moving forward on an ordinance.
She says, "I'm afraid that as the fuel crisis gets worse, more people are going to be riding them, and brain injury is a very real result of moped accidents or scooters, or whatever you want to call them."
Dowdy says the first thing the council will have to do is get an ordinance in place that is similar to those enforcing motorcycle and bike helmets.

Wow. Im so glad we have government to protect us from ourselves. If someone over 18 wants to ride a moped without a helmet, that should be their choice. They know if they smack the side of a truck, chances are they are going to crack their melon. If they can live with it, so can I.
