Virginia is for lovers, but it's becoming destination for movie making.
Rita McClenny, Director of Virginia Film Office, spoke to the Harrisonburg Rotary Club today about her efforts to get movies made in Virginia. She says the valley is always a big selling point for the state because of its outdoor Eco sites and historic properties.
"War of the Worlds" and now "Evan Almighty" are two recent movies that have used the valley. Virginia is ranked 14th nationally for film production. And getting a taste of Tinseltown is about more than just bragging rights.
" Movie crew and people who come in on location when filming is done, they are super tourists. They come and stay in hotels, rent homes, a lot of shopping they are renting cars, buying antiques," says McClenny.
McClenny's office is working to bring the new Harrison Ford film " Manhunt" to Virginia.
