Half Moon Beach in Shenandoah County is closed while state and local law enforcement agencies evaluate it for safety. The facility was first closed during the weekend when a six-year-old Culpeper girl drowned.
Saturday's drowning was the second time in less than 30 days that a person has drowned at Half Moon Beach. Sources say the parents of Dakota Hansen have hired an attorney in hopes of getting the beach closed indefinitely.
Investigators began what is called a safety evaluation of the facility Monday. A meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday to make a final determination.
Owners of Half Moon Beach have refused comment on the situation.

I have visited the beach numerous times with 4 children and as long as you keep a constant eye on your child jsut like in any pool/water or sea I feel the beach is safe, there are life guards but it is your responsibility in the end to watch your child and keep them safe, my thoughts and prayers do go out to the parents,
