Hello Big Screen! Downtown Waynesboro is set for its chance for stardom after a full day major motion picture shoot.

The River City has become Huntsville, a fictional town in Evan Almighty, the sequel to Bruce Almighty.

Fifty to 100 crew members and extras worked on the shoot. There also were many Valley residents lining the streets to sneak a peek at the movie-making magic.

"It's just like being in Hollywood," explained spectator Joyce Camden. "It's just magical like being a kid again, waiting on Christmas morning you can't hardly stand it you want to move around and get closer and closer and reach out and touch."

Or at least catch a glimpse of stars Morgan Freeman, who plays God, and Steve Carell, who plays Evan in the Universal Film.

"I'm just still waiting, just still waiting and freezing," explained spectator Elizabeth Webb.

"We've been here about an hour and a half. I'd stay here all day if I had to," Camden said.

"Every time they stop shooting people seem to flood the sidewalks and come in and see what's going on," explained an extra in the film, Ryan Farr.

"It's a small little town I think everybody needs a little excitement every now and a while," Camden added.

The movie's publicist said plans to shoot scenes in nearby Staunton are still up in the air.
