The lack of precipitation is hurting farmers in Augusta County and now the board of supervisors plans to ask experts to research the impact the dry cropping season is having.
Agents are traveling around Augusta County estimating corn yields to get an assessment of how drought has affected production this year.
On Monday, the research will be presented to the board of supervisors. With that information, the board will decide whether or not to ask the state for drought assistance.
