Waynesboro Police are investigating a vehicle break-in that turned into a vehicle theft. Police say someone broke into a Kia sedan on Link Road Sunday night, and found the keys to another car, a Chevy Cavalier, inside. Police say the thief then stole the Cavalier. It was later found abandoned with the CD player, speaker system, and GPS system ripped out.

Harrisonburg Police report that truck parts were removed Sunday night from several vehicles at Steven Toyota. The thief took the rear differentials from four Toyota Tacoma trucks parked in the back of the lot.

Rockingham County Sheriff's deputies are dealing with a case of something else stolen from a vehicle. Deputies report that a Smith and Wesson pistol was taken from a vehicle on Holsinger Road in Broadway over the weekend.

Staunton Police report that two women tried to steal nearly $400 of groceries from Kroger on Friday night. Donna Wright, from Augusta Springs, and Julia McDaniel, from Swoope, were arrested. They face grand larceny charges.

Augusta County Sheriff's deputies say a $3,000 flat-screen television was reported stolen from a vacation lodge in Middlebrook on Friday. A 46-inch Sony flat-screen TV was taken from the home on Summerdean Road. There were no signs of forced entry.

Shenandoah County Sheriff's deputies say three people broke into a home on Deer Run Road in Mount Jackson on August 17 and assaulted the family inside. Debra Rothgeb and David Rothgeb, who are mother and son, were both arrested along with Troy Daughtry. They are all from Mount Jackson, and they face charges of vandalism, assault and battery, and breaking and entering.
