Four people accused of making fake IDs for illegal immigrants in the area have pleaded guilty in federal court.
Eight people were indicted in March for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to make and sell false identification documents from January 2004 to February 2008.
Acting U.S. Attorney Julia Dudley says four of those people, each of which had a specific role in the ID ring, pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Luis Toro, of Puerto Rico, says he would sell Puerto Rican birth certificates to Edwin Mendez in the United States.
Edwin Mendez, of Harrisonburg, would sell those documents to illegal aliens who needed them to get state IDs for employment.
Jario Gomez and Efrain Sanchez-Aparicio would take illegal immigrants to Columbus, Ohio to get Ohio ID cards.
All four face a maximum sentence of seven years. They will be sentenced December 10.
