Gov. Tim Kaine held a press conference by phone Saturday to talk about how the state as a whole was impacted by Tropical Storm Hanna.

Kaine says power outages are beginning to subside, and crews are diligently working to restore electricity. The Department of Transportation is working on re-opening roadways, some that may need repairs in the coming days.

Kaine says damage assessment teams have been dispatched, though it's too early to give a report on the damages.

He says, "There have been some weather-related accidents, including some fatalities. In any event, the team here at the EOC is working well together with FEMA and the various state resources and private sector resources that are here, and as the storm now moves out of Virginia, we're going to continue to monitor the rain and flooding situation."

Kaine also talked about what they need to do in case Hurricane Ike comes our way.

He says, "I think the fact that people have been here in the EOC, some, a more skeleton crew Thursday, but then a larger crew yesterday and today, gets folks in the mood of working together here and working together in tandem with the localities and that should put us in a pretty good position to be able to respond to Ike later in the week."

He also says they're still unsure of Ike's path, so they'll have time to monitor where they'll locate their resources.
