A Winchester man has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of his son Monday night.
Winchester Police say around 7:45 p.m. Monday, they got a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Highland Avenue. That's where they found the body of 47-year-old Bobby Jackson lying outside, next to a house.
Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he had been shot several times in the face and chest.
"His last happy moment was with me 'cause I just got out of his car and he was happy and then he left," says Jackson's friend Rhianna Walker.
His father, 68-year-old Charles Walker, was standing next to the house when police arrived. He was taken into custody and charged with Jackson's murder.
Walker is charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
"I was standing right up here on the corner of Elk and Highland and all of a sudden you just hear two shots. You hear them come outside and they were standing right there in the alley and then he just shot him right there," says neighbor Caitlin Williams.
Witnesses say it happened outside after a drunken argument. Police are still investigating a motive.
"It's just so sad that your own father would take you out of this world. You know what they say, 'they bring you in this world and they take you out,'" says Williams.
A medical examiner in Fairfax will do an autopsy Tuesday. Anyone with additional information is asked to call CrimeSolvers at 540-722-5200.
