Armed and dangerous, but don't worry; they're the goods guys! The Harrisonburg Police Department is hosting a Swat team competition at its firing range.
About twelve teams from Virginia, Pennsylvania and even the Army came out to compete Wednesday. Since HPD hosts the event, their team doesn't participate.
The teams take part in obstacle courses and sniper events. One of the biggest factors in winning is beating the clock.
"It just takes the skills to a little bit of a higher level because there's that competitive mode where we do have scheduled training like any other department does, but the added feature is the competition," says Lt. Carl Crawford of the Manassas City Police Department.
Lieutenant Crawford says this event reinforces swat team training. He says Harrisonburg has done an excellent job hosting the competition, and if the event is held next year, his team will attend.
